Whatever the weather outside a warm and friendly welcome awaits you inside Toll Gavel United Church, Beverley when Beverley Male Voice Choir present their ever-popular "Prelude to Christmas" concert which commences at 2.l5pm on Sunday, 20th December, 2009.

Conducted by their musical director Liz WILSON and accompaned by Pat CAVE (piano) the Choir will sing a selection of Yuletide music including Mary's Boy Child, Silver Bells and the Hallelujah Chorus.

There will be the usual community carols when our resident comedian "Little Eric" GODSON will have all bobbing up and down to the Choir's fun version of "The 12 Days of Christmas."

Our guests this year are the Keldmarsh Primary School Choir who will sing three traditional and three modern carols.

Tickets are now on sale at £5 from Beverley Tourist Information Centre, Butcher Row, Beverley and from any choir member so get yours now as they go very quickly.

Grand Finale concert of Christian Heritage in the Spa Theatre
Beverley Male Voice Choir has been invited to lead the singing in the Grand Finale concert of Christian Heritage in the Spa Theatre, Bridlington commencing at 6.30pm (doors open 6.0pm) on Sunday, 22nd November, 2009. The Choir conducted by their musical director Liz WILSON and accompanied by Pat CAVE (piano) will present a selection of music including Welsh hymns and negro spirituals e.g. "Morte Christi," "Steal Away," and "When the Saints go marching in." Also featured are Ben COUPER (violin), Adam WALKER (singer), Longcroft Performing Arts College Gospel Choir, Bridlington Methodist Singers, the Festival Ensemble, and the Bridlington Boys' Brigade. Admission is FREEand all are welcome.

LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS CONCERT
At the invitation of the Musical Director to the Band of the 150th (Yorkshire) Transport Regiment, Royal Logistics Corps - Graham JANES, the Beverley Male Voice Choir are to take part in a Grand Charity Concert in the City Hall, Hull at 7.30pm on Saturday, 24th October, 2009. Also appearing is the Nottingham Band of the Royal Engineers.
   
The Bands will play several pieces from their repertoire including "Mama Mia" and a "Beatles Medley."  They will also accompany a 'sing-along' of wartime favourites. The Choir conducted by their musical director Liz WILSON and accompanied by Pat CAVE (piano) and Nigel CLARKE (organ) will sing five numbers including "An American Trilogy" and "Morte Christi." They will also sing "Mansions of the Lord" as a tribute to those men and women casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan which will be accompanied by the bands.

The Concert will conclude with a mini "Last Night of the Proms" with Liz WILSON (soprano) singing "Rule Britannia" accompanied by the Choir and bands followed by "Land of Hope & Glory" and "Jerusalem" and audience participation and much flag-waiving.

Tickets are £10.50, £11.50 and £12.50 with concessions and are obtainable from Hull City Hall Box Office, Tel: 01482 226655.

All proceeds are in support of the "Help for Heroes" organization.

Beverley Male Voice Choir will welcome Blackpool Male Voice Choir as their guests in an Evening of Song for charity at 7.30pm in Toll Gavel United Church, Beverley.
 
Conducted by their respective musical directors  each choir will present its own programme in additon to which they will combine to sing several other pieces.
 
The programme will include old and new, serious and lighter pieces e.g. Morte Christi, Polly Perkins, Hello Dolly etc.,etc., and of course a Welsh hymn or two.
 
Tickets are £5 and obtainable from Beverley Tourist  Information Centre, Butcher Row, choir members and on the door.
 
All proceeds are in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity.

Beverley Male Voice Choir will present a further Summer Evening concert
conducted by their musical director Liz WILSON and accompanied by Pat CAVE
(piano) and Nigel CLARKE (organ) in All Hallows Church, Walkington at 7.0pm on Friday, 4th September,2009.

Once again the programme will consist of favourites old and new including "The Rose," "Speed your Journey," and "Morte Christi."

As a contrast to the Choir the guest artistes are instrumentalists Bethan ATTWOOD (Cello), and Christopher HOGGARTH (Flute.)

At the invitation of the Derwent & Minster Lions Clubs the Beverley Male Voice Choir will give a summer evening concert in Queen Margaret's School, Escrick.

A champagne and canapes reception wll commence at 6.30pm on Saturday, 15th August, 2009.

The Choir under Asst. Musical Director Derek Robinson will perform a selection of popular and traditional music including Deus Salutis and Kings of Swing - a varied programme in fact.

Guest artistes are Ann Christie (soprano) and an instrumental soloist.

The concert will conclude with a mini Last Night of the Proms with audience participation singng Land of Hope & Glory, Rule Britannia and Jerusalem.

Tickets are £10 and these plus any further information can be obtained from Beverley Tourist Information Office, Butcher Row, Beverley.

All proceeds are for the Riding for the Disabled in the York area.

Grand Charity concert in aid of the
Gulf Veterans and Families Association

As part of the North Bar 600th Anniversary Celebrations, Beverley Male Voice Choir present Grand Charity Concert in Toll Gavel United Church, Beverley at 7:30pm on Monday 6th July 2009.

Led by their musical director Liz Wilson and accompanied by Pat Cave (piano) and Nigel Clarke (organ) the choir will sing a varied programme of favourites old and new including the Soldiers’ Chorus, Memory from Cats and many more.

Guest artists are our own Liz Wilson (soprano) and Nigel Clarke (baritone) both solos and duets.

The evening will conclude with a mini ‘Last Night of the Proms’ with much flag waving and audience participation in singing Land of Hope and Glory, Britannia with soloist Anne Christie (soprano) also Jerusalem.

Tickets are £5 obtainable from Beverley Tourist Information, Butcher Row and at the door.

All proceeds are in aid of The National Gulf Veterans and Families Association.

Having completed another successful year during which we raised several thousand pounds for good causes notably almost £2,000 for Beverley Christmas Lights Appeal and £2,500 in another concert for Cancer Research UK we now take a break until March to learn new music.

The Choir is always on the look-out for new members so if you would like to join a friendly bunch of guys who enjoy singing do come along to Toll Gavel Church, Beverley at 7.15pm on a Monday and give it a go. The ability to read music is not essential but an advantage.

"Prelude to Christmas"

The Festive Season is once again almost upon us and Beverley Male Voice Choir cordially invite you to join   them at 2.15pm on Sunday 21st December to enjoy their ever-popular "Prelude to Christmas" concert in the warmth of Toll Gavel Church, Beverley.
Conducted by their Deputy Musical Director Derek Robinson the Choir will be singing old favourites like "Let there be Peace on Earth" and new ones  like "Li'l David play on your Harp".
Soloists are Ann Christie (Soprano) and  Nigel Clarke (Baritone).
There will of course be the usual community carols including the Choir's own fun version of "The 12 days of Christmas" plus the 'figgy pudding' one.
Our guest artistes this year are the Swinemoor Primary School Children who may join us in singing "Mistletoe & Wine."

Combined concert with the Cardiff Male Choir at Beverley Minster on November 22nd raises £2,500.00!

Our recent concert in Beverley Minster  with Cardiff Male Choir  raised the magnificent sum of £2,500 clear for Cancer Research UK. Many thanks to all those who supported this worthy cause.

Grand Charity Concert
in conjunction with Cardiff Male Voice Choir
November 22nd 2008

By popular demand the Cardiff Male Voice Choir make a welcome return to Yorkshire to join Beverley Male Voice Choir in a Grand Charity Concert to be held in Beverley Minster at 7.0pm on Saturday, 22nd November, 2008 in aid of Cancer Research UK. The concert will be compered by Phil White from BBC Radio Humberside.
Cardiff Male voice Choir
The Choirs will each perform their own programme of traditional and modern male voice choir pieces, e.g. Maria, You Raise Me Up, Comrades in Arms, etc., under their respective musical directors - Guy HARBOTTLE for Cardiff and Liz WILSON for Beverley, but at times during the Concert will combine to sing a number of pieces including Cwm Rhondda, When the Saints come Marching In, and Morte Christi. They will conclude by singing Jerusalem and the Welsh National Anthem.
Tickets are £15 and £20 which includes supper and the chance to meet'n greet the Choirs. Tickets are obtainable from Sokells, Driffield, both Beverley and Bridlington Tourist Information Centres, from Lisa Anderson on 01377 249430 and on the door.
It will be a most enjoyable evening of song in a very worthwhile cause.

An Evening of Song

At the request of their president Councillor Kate GRAY the Beverley Male Voice Choir will present an Evening of Song in Toll Gavel United Church, Beverley at 7.30pm on Saturday, 30th August, 2008 to raise funds for the Beverley Christmas Lights Appeal.

Conducted by their musical director Liz WILSON and accompanied by Pat CAVE (piano) and Nigel CLARKE (organ) the Choir will present a varied programme of old favourites and new pieces like "Speed your Journey" and "You Raise me up" plus negro spirituals and of course Welsh hymns.

There will be duets and solos from guest artistes Liz WILSON (soprano) and Nigel CLARKE (baritone)

The Concert will conclude in 'Last Night of the Proms' style with soprano Ann CHRISTIE singing Rule Britannia followed by Jerusalem and of course Land of Hope & Glory so do bring your Union flags and your red,white and blue and join in the fun.

The Choir will present a Summer Evening Concert at the St. James's Heritage Centre,Warter at 7.30pm on Saturday, 19th July, 2008. The annual president evening was held on the 17 May at Toll Gavel Methodist Church Beverley, where the invited audience were  treated to a wonderful evening of traditional Welsh Hymns and a variety of popular pieces such as Comrades in Arms, Yorkshire mixture, Speed your Journey, Take Me Home and Ride the Chariot.
This year the guest artist was a student of 15 years of age, Adrian Davis, who played several piano concertos. The audience were absolutely spellbound by this young man's tremendous talent. Several encores were eagerly listened to. A promising career should lie ahead for him.

Treasure House Concert

On Friday March 4 2008 BMVC performed a concert at Treasure House Beverley for the benefit of the charities sponsored by the Chairman of East Riding Council Councillor Barbara Jefferson , The British Heart Foundation and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf will both benefit from the proceeds raised on the evening

Local civic leaders , dignitaries, and invited guests were provided with a varied repertoire ,which included traditional Welsh hymns /Songs from the shows etc  , the programme included both  solos and duets from Musical Director Mrs Elisabeth Wilson and Nigel Clarke  accompanied by Mrs Pat Cave on the piano,
It was a magnificent evening for which the Choir was very pleased to be asked to participate.

Spring Concert
Beverley Male Voice Choir will give a Spring concert presented by the Kingston upon Hull Welsh Society in the Guildhall, Hull at 7.30pm on Saturday, 19th April, 2008

BMVC at Blackpool

Joint Concert with Blackpool Male Voice Choir
Springfield Methodist Church Blackpool St David’s Day 1st March 2008 in aid of Cancer Research UK

Blackpool Male Voice Choir invited Beverley Male voice choir to perform a joint concert in order to raise funds for Cancer Research UK the brain child of Mr Derek Rigby an ex member of Beverley Male Voice Choir and now singing with Blackpool MVC,
The evening was compared by Mr Bill Pinder( an excellent story teller!)
To a packed venue the audience were treated to a selection of Favourites, the evening was a huge success and a revisit to Beverley is on the agenda! Despite the difference of the colour of the roses!!!

On December 14th, BMVC were  singing on behalf of the Womens Institute of Holme on Spalding Moor, East Yorkshire ,
A virtual sell out audience enjoyed many favourites  and several popular Christmas  numbers such as Mary's Boy Child, O Holy Night, Silver Bells and Silent Night,The  audience were treated to two individual performances from BMVC musical director, Soprano Elizabeth Wilson , who sang three of her favourite Christmas songs and second tenor John Cooke who sang three numbers from musicals including "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables, Accompanists Mrs Pat Cave and Nigel Clarke on the organ.

Prelude to Christmas Concert

The Festive Season was once again almost upon us and on Sunday 16th December we enjoyed a sell-out for ever popular "PRELUDE TO CHRISTMAS" concert in the warmth of Toll Gavel Reformed Church, Beverley.
Conducted by our musical director Liz WILSON and accompanied by Pat Cave the Choir sang old favourites like Oh Holy Night, and new ones like Little David Play On Yo' Harp.
There werethe usual community carols including the Choir's own fun version of The Twelve Days of Christmas plus the 'figgy pudding' one.
Our guest artistes this year were the Hessle Methodist Church singing group "Banned"  who were much appreciated.

New members are always welcome so if choral singing appeals to you, then do come along to our rehearsals each Monday evening at 7.15 in Toll Gavel Church, Beverley. There are NO auditions and the ability to read music is not essential though a distinct advantage.
